Hardscaping in Sarnia, ON

Stone walkways, interlock and flagstone patios, retaining walls and tree borders, built properly from the base up. Free quotes from the owners.

Built From the Ground Up

A patio or walkway is only as good as what's underneath it. When the base is rushed, stones start to rock, joints open up and one low corner holds water every time it rains. We're Sarnia born and raised, and we've seen what a Lambton County winter, with all its freezing and thawing, does to a shortcut.

So we spend our time where you can't see it. We dig to the right depth, build and compact the base, then set the stone with enough slope to shed water. It isn't the exciting part of the job, but it's what keeps the finished surface flat and tight.

We build stone walkways, interlock and paver patios, flagstone paths, retaining walls, circular tree borders, decorative edging and aggregate work for homes around Sarnia. Stone and plants usually belong together, so we can plan the beds around the hardscaping at the same time.

Walkways, Interlock & Retaining Walls in Sarnia

Stone that's laid properly looks better and holds up longer. Here's what we take on.

Stone Walkways

Paths from the driveway to the door, through the side yard or out to the shed, laid on a compacted base.

Interlock & Paver Patios

Patios sized for how you'll use them, whether that's two chairs by the front door or a full backyard seating area.

Flagstone

Natural flagstone paths and patios with a hand-fitted, irregular look that suits gardens and cottages.

Retaining Walls

Walls that hold back a slope, level out uneven ground or raise a garden bed off the lawn.

Circular Tree Borders

Stone rings around trees that keep the mower off the trunk and give the lawn a clean focal point.

Edging & Aggregate

Decorative edging and aggregate work that gives beds and paths a sharp, finished line.

How We Build Hardscaping

  1. Measure and Mark

We measure the area, go over stone and layout with you, and mark out exactly where everything will go.

  2. Dig and Build the Base

We excavate, then lay and compact the base in layers. This step decides how well the job holds up.

  3. Lay and Set

Stones are laid, cut to fit and set level, with a slight slope so water runs off instead of pooling.

  4. Finish and Walk Through

Joints are filled, edges tidied and the site cleaned up. Then we walk the finished work with you.

What Sets Our Stonework Apart

The Base Comes First

We don't skip steps under the surface to save a day. The base is what stops stones from shifting.

Clean Lines

Straight edges, even joints and cuts that fit. Details like these are what make stonework look professional.

Clear Pricing, Guaranteed Work

Your quote spells out the work and the price before we dig. If anything isn't right afterwards, we come back and fix it.

Fully Insured

Digging and heavy materials come with risk, which is why full liability insurance covers every job we do.

Hardscaping Questions

How long does a new patio or walkway take?

It depends on the size, the stone you choose and how much digging the site needs. Your written quote includes a timeline, and we'll keep you posted if the weather moves anything.

Should I choose interlock or flagstone?

Interlock gives you a uniform, tidy look and comes in plenty of colours and shapes. Flagstone has a natural, irregular look that suits gardens and cottage-style homes. Mitch can talk you through both when he visits.

Do you build retaining walls?

Yes. We build retaining walls to hold back slopes, level uneven ground and create raised garden beds. Tell us what the wall needs to do and Mitch will quote the right approach.

Can you combine hardscaping with new garden beds?

Yes, and it usually makes sense. Planning the stone and the planting together means the beds fit the paths, instead of being squeezed in afterwards.

My interlock is already in but looks dirty. Can you help?

Yes. If the stone is sound but faded or mossy, a proper wash often brings it back. Our pressure washing page shows the before and after of an interlock walkway we cleaned.

When can hardscaping be done?

For most of the year, whenever the ground is not frozen. Spring and summer book up quickly, so it helps to get your free quote early.
